China has little to no force projection capability, they are a financial power not a military one. They have the largest army but if it came down to it there are few other industrial countries they could beat in a conventional war. They recently tried to "secretly" buy a mothballed British aircraft carrier from the 1970s and when they were showing off their new fighters they put footage from Top Gun in there thinking we wouldn't notice. What this says to me is that their military is possibly in far worse shape than we could imagine.
