When humans colonized islands they often introduced their domestic animals such as goats and cats?

On those islands there were no population controls on the exotic animals, e.g. no predators of cats or goats. The cats were free to kill off native birds, small mammals, reptiles, insecrts, etc. The goats were free to chew the vegetation to death.
