Is NetFlix worth the membership?

I have netflix for free right now for a month, and it's all right in the options of movies just to unwind to silly movies, but I don't see any recent movies. Many are old or movies you never heard of of. I don't know if it's worth paying for netflix. Is NetFlix really showing me all the movies through free membership or are they keeping the real ones from showing through free membership?
