Why do Accents disappear?

Because as people hear others around them speaking American accent English they learn to adapt and change their own accent. As their kids grow up hearing kids speaking in an American accent they learn to pick it up and speak like that themselves. When you hear someone pronouncing a word a certain way for a long time your own pronunciation changes, kinda like that.
